In April 2026, Microsoft will discontinue support for Basic authentication with Client Submission (SMTP AUTH). After this time, if you use Microsoft email, your devices and applications can no longer use Basic authentication; you must use Open Authorization (OAuth).
Follow the instructions below to set up Microsoft OAuth for emails to and from SiteLink. This process requires you to create a new registration in your Microsoft account before adjusting your SiteLink configuration.
Note: Corporate Control Center allows cloning of updated email settings from a Reference site. SiteLink Web Edition allows you to update email settings for a single location within your organization. Once you obtain your OAuth credentials, the two different workflows are explained below.
Create a New Microsoft Registration with OAuth Credentials
First, you’ll log in to your Microsoft account to generate the OAuth credentials you’ll need for SiteLink.
- Go to the Microsoft Entra Admin Center and log in.
- Go to Applications and click App Registrations. In the App Registrations screen, click New Registration.
- Provide a name and click Register.
Note: For more information on Supported Account Types, see the Microsoft help article.
- On the next screen, you’ll see the Application (client) ID and Directory (tenant) ID for your newly created app registration. Save this information; you’ll enter it into SiteLink later.
- Under the Search bar, click Certificates & Secrets, then New Client Secret. Under Add a client secret, enter a description and expiration time. Click Add to create the new client secret. Important Note: Once you click Add, the new secret appears only once. Save the Secret Value (not Secret ID); you’ll need it to enter it into SiteLink later.
- Under the Search bar, click API Permissions, then Add a permission. In the Microsoft APIs tab, click Microsoft Graph.
- Click Application Permissions.
- Under the Mail tab, select Mail.ReadWrite and Mail.Send and click Add Permissions.
- Click Grant admin consent for (your company name). Your permissions should look like this:
- With registration complete, you’ll use these three values obtained in the steps above to enter in SiteLink:
- Application (client) ID
- Directory (tenant) ID
- Client Secret Value
Enter Microsoft OAuth Credentials into SiteLink Web Edition
With your new Microsoft OAuth credentials generated, you’ll use those to configure your SiteLink email settings.
- From the main SiteLink Web Edition screen, click Setup.
- Click Email.
- On the E-Mail screen, select Microsoft 365 under E-Mail Type. Under Configuration, enter the following values you obtained from your Microsoft registration above:
- Application (client) ID
- Directory (tenant) ID
- Client Secret Value
Once your credentials are entered, you can either send a test email or save your settings. To save your settings, click OK. Click Test E-mail to send a test e-mail. Enter any email associated with your facility and click OK. Check the recipient’s inbox for the test email with the subject line TestMessage (date) (time).
Enter Microsoft OAuth Credentials into Corporate Control Center
With your new Microsoft OAuth credentials generated, you’ll use those to configure your CCC email settings.
Note: CCC allows you to clone email settings from a Reference site. The steps below explain how to clone email settings from a Reference site to targeted sites.
- From the main CCC Setup screen, click E-Mail.
- On the Sites List screen, select any locations you’d like to update with the new Microsoft OAuth settings from the Reference Site and click Next. These sites will be cloned from the Reference site chosen in the next step.
Note: You should select at least one location.
- On the Reference Site Picker screen, select the source location with the updated Microsoft OAuth settings (which you’ll complete below) you’d like to apply to the locations in the previous step and click Next. The Reference site’s settings will be used for the sites selected in the previous step.
- On the E-Mail screen, select Microsoft 365 under E-Mail Type. Under Configuration, enter the following values you obtained from your Microsoft registration above:
- Application (client) ID
- Directory (tenant) ID
- Client Secret Value
Once your credentials are entered, you have three options:
- Click OK to save your updated Reference site email settings.
- Click Test E-mail to send a test e-mail. Enter any email associated with your facility and click OK. Check the recipient’s inbox for the test email with the subject line TestMessage (date) (time).
- Click Clone to copy your Reference site’s updated email settings to additional sites within your organization. Note: If you click Yes, email settings for selected sites will be overwritten for the locations selected in step #2 with the Reference site’s settings selected in step #3.
