How do I change how future charges are handled at move-out?

Some storage businesses prefer to credit unpaid future charges when a tenant moves out rather than delete them. In some countries, like the UK, there is legislation that requires that storage businesses credit unpaid future charges. SiteLink Web Edition includes settings to ensure that future charges are handled in the way you choose.

To edit settings concerning what happens to unpaid future charges:

2. In SiteLink Web Edition, click Setup at the top of your screen. SLWE_setup.png
3. On the next screen, click Program Defaults.

4. Select the Move Out tab.

5. You’ll find the Unpaid Future Charges settings in the bottom right corner of the screen. Click the radio button next to your desired choice:

  • Delete unpaid future charges at move out: This option will delete any unpaid future charges when a tenant moves out of their unit. It removes the charges from their account. These charges, in essence, will disappear from your software. This option is selected by default.
  • Credit unpaid future charges at move out: This option will credit any unpaid future charges as $0 at move-out. This will allow you to provide your customers with a valid credit note (receipt) acknowledging the charges while also maintaining more detailed records of all charges at your facility. In short, it creates a record of the credited charges.

6. After you've made your selection, click OK to save your changes.
